The popular HEAD Junior 900 series had it's final event at Devoy Squash & Fitness on 14 October. The 8-event series is designed as a taster for kids to get into competitive squash. Players get points for each event entered and each match and division they win. At the end of the series the top five (based on their best 5 results) get awesome prizes from HEAD.
In 2018 the series has again been extremely popular with a total of over 380 individual entries across the events. Many tournaments were closed off early due to the popularity, which really bodes well for the future in our region.
Going in to the final event, as many as 15 players were in the running to make the top 5. In the end two girls and three boys emerged as deserved winners.
At each tournament, two players are chosen as the 'best & fairest' in the day. Each of those kids are put into the draw to win a Coaching Scholarship valued at $100 at the end of the series. This year's recipient is Katikati's Kendall Young.
Special thanks to our fantastic sponsor HEAD, and to the various tournament controllers around the clubs who did a great job again this year.
