The latest from the Squash BOP Boardroom...
Refereeing
We have been working hard on a refereeing plan and things are starting to happen. At the recent Te Puke Open Becky did assessments for potential District Referees. At the BOP Open we will be running an advanced course, and doing assessments. We will have district and national refs at the event to help officiate. We have secured funding for referee development so we will be supporting the developing referees as well as subsidizing rules nights for clubs. Any clubs who have players interested in refereeing, please let them know about our referee development program.
Doubles
With the increase in popularity of Doubles, we are looking at a couple of ideas to capture that market. We are planning a Doubles tournament series for summer, and also looking at a potential Doubles interclub/league. More information to come soon
Microcourts
Squash BOP has two microcourts that can be used in schools. They have been managed in the past by an individual who has decided not to continue. If any club or school would like to use them, or if you have any ideas on what the best use for them may be, we would be glad to hear from you.
BOP Teams
We have secured partial funding for our Rep teams (Juniors/Seniors/Masters). There are more funding applications away, but the board has allocated some funds to each team to keep the player contribution down as much as possible. They feel it is important for us to support our regional representatives and make sure playing for the Bay is not out of anyone’s reach financially.
