Board Update February 2018

The Squash BOP Board is keen to keep communication lines open between the board, clubs and players.  So below is the first update from the Board for 2018.

Board Update February 2018

Scoring
Squash NZ are currently gathering opinions on a new proposal to change all scoring to PAR11.  The board is keen to see the outcome of the survey, but in the meantime it is status quo in the Bay.  Interclub will be PAR15, Premier League and regional Junior events (HEAD Junior 900 Series & BOP Junior Open) will be PAR11

HEAD
We are proud to announce we have signed HEAD as Squash BOP’s Racquet sponsor.  We are very excited about partnering with such a fantastic brand and look forward to a long relationship.

Road Trip
We are about to embark on our annual Road Trip to get around the club committees and ‘chew the fat’.  The Road Trip will commence Friday 9 February.

Go for it
Squash is now part of Sport BOP’s ‘Go for it’ Program.  We are stoked to be included in the ‘Hit it’ portion that will be delivered to Year 5/6 this year.

Refereeing
Becky Clarke has been named Refereeing Director for Squash BOP.  Becky is a national referee and is passionate about referee development.  She is currently working on a plan for this season so keep an eye out for opportunities coming soon

Commonwealth Games
The Games start on the Gold Coast on 4 April.  Our shining star Amanda Landers-Murphy will be out to add a doubles medal to her already-impressive trophy cabinet.  NZ has a fantastic squash team and this presents a unique opportunity to showcase and grow our sport.  We all have to embrace this and maximize the benefit for the sport.  Squash NZ is rolling out all sorts of promotional opportunities which we strongly encourage all clubs to engage with.  More details will be out very soon.
