On August 21st, the Bay of Plenty Squash community gathered to celebrate the life memberships of two influential figures, Wayne Werder and Robbie Wyatt. With nearly 80 people in attendance, the evening was marked by an incredible atmosphere, filled with camaraderie and a shared passion for squash.
Friends, family, and squash enthusiasts travelled from all corners of the district to celebrate Wayne and Robbie, whose contributions have left a lasting impact on the sport, not only in the Bay of Plenty but across the country. The evening was made even more special with the presentation of pounamu toki, symbolizing the mana and honour of these two deserving individuals.
Speeches throughout the night highlighted the significant roles Wayne and Robbie have played in the squash community, underscoring their dedication and the positive influence they’ve had on the sport's growth and development. Among the attendees were current life members Bill Murphy, Ash Brownrigg, and Neville Munro, whose presence added to the event's prestige.
